Finally!

Finally...NTU replied me with THE offer.

I thought I screwed up for the interview. Apparently the interviewer felt that I cannot manage my time well because of my answer to a particlar question.

'Oh I see you're from Choir. So will you join singing competitions like Singapore Idol?'

I rambled on... ...interviewer gave me that face.

'So you mean you cannot manage your time? Do you know who is Steph Sun? You know she's from NTU? Then maybe you should consult her how she manages to manage both her singing career and studies.'

That's why I thought I was screwed.

Accountancy here I come! I'm so freaking excited now, of all the uni life, CCAs and hostel life. Everything seem so real now because of that acceptance letter...and I'll say this again!

I can't wait for hostel life. :) All the best to my future roommate, because I'm really a messy untidy and disorganised person. But I will try to change, or else my room will definitely look like a 狗窝. That's what my mother said.

Went for the SPRING EDS interview (11am to 6pm) on Friday too. It sort of made me realised TJ sheltered us a lot from the realities of the world. I felt that in TJ, we have a very cool and warm family culture. People there at the EDS interview were extremely competitive, very vocal, very good with their words, very convinving. But I didn't think my team worked well, because everyone wanted to talk and no one wanted to listen. It's quite sad actually when you see everyone fighting for a chance to say something (or perhaps, say for the sake of saying something-- because all the assessors were there with clipboards in their hands.) It was a very stressful environment, partly because you HAVE to say something in order to be noticed amongst all the 30 plus people.

As for me, the interview was a goner because, well, I didn't exactly speak up. Or should I say I can't even get a word in because everyone was interrupting each other. But it was really an eye-opening experience for me. :)) I'm really amazaed by some individuals. They were very eloquent, very confident and very steady. Any coincidence that most of them are from Uni Year 1? Hopefully in a year time, I will be as steady as them. YEAH! :))

I told my father about my experience there, and he said

'Life's like this. That's why I think your friends are all too nice
already.
In life or in work, no one will actually care about
your
survival.
It's either you fight for the chance to shine, or you
will just get
lost
behind. I always tell you don't be so trusting...
...life in University will not
be the same as your life in TJ.'

Lunch at naked fish!

LiRong, Me and Caroline. And that's our dear Mary standing behind us. She's the one who's giving us THE TREAT!See, my eyes are closed. AGAIN. Half the pictures I take-my eyes are permanently closed! What will I give for big eyes like Huat. Can you spot Zhi Lin at the back?
That's Mr Ooi who bought us that chocolate cake. :)))

Ok, the cake doesn't look THAT nice here. But I can assure you, it's freaking delicious. Look at all the layers of chocolate, chocolate and chocolate...

The most sinful thing ever

TODAY WAS A PIGGING DAY.
Florence's group (My, Grace, Gerald) and Mary's group (Me, Caroline and LiRong) went to Naked Fish for lunch. It was really value-for-money! I had this set lunch which consists of soup+garlic bread, baked dory fish, drink and desset for only $9.80. (of course, not paid by me since it was supposed to be a treat by the staff at nyp). The service was also supreb! The person who served us was this guy who must be almost 70 years old since he lived through the Japanese Occupation. He's super patient and explained to us the various types of catch. He's pretty amusing too in his actions-- our order was repeated for almost 4 times. Drinks were served and refilled promptly. LUNCH WAS REALLY NICE!

AFTERNOON TEA :)
Then, at 3pm, Mr Ooi bought us this fantastic chocolate cake from Splash and Deckers. Apparently, he felt guilty for giving us too much work? But what are part-timers for? And actly, I feel quite guilty myself-getting paid to watch movies online and basically slacking away at work. LOL. Anyway, back to the cake! The chocolate cake, aptly named EXOTIC CHOCOLATE CAKE was made up of 4 layers- a hard biscuit crust at the bottom, followed by soft chocolate sponge cake, then this super smooth chocolate cream and then topped up by this layer of chocolate fudge. Wanted to resist the temptation as it was really sinful, especially after yesterday's mudpie at Changing Appetites. But you know me. I succumb to the evil piece of cake in the end. AHH. Cake 1, Diet 0 :/

The chocolate cake from heaven!

Pictures shall be up soon :))

And yes, I'm excited to start uni so I can go and live in a hostel. Sm, we shall go IKEA shopping and decorate our room. :)))

The Stupid Show

Watched this show called the S factor on Channel 5 yesterday. Seriously a bimbotic show. :/ My father was watching it together with me, which is so seriously weird as all the babes were strutting around in bikinis, and showing A LOT of flesh. And it's just weird to have your father watching that together with you. lol.

Ok, back to the point.

Dad: 'Only channel 5 will show this kind of show. What rubbish S factor. S stands for Stupid or Silly!'

Me:' Aiyah. But there's demand for this kind of shows. And their target audience are guys what...'

Dad: 'This show is so bimbotic, demeans women, portray them as sex objects, airheads, ect....You better GO and SLEEP and SWITCH OFF THE TELEVISION.'

Me: 'But you are also watching the show what'.

Dad keeps quiet and went to sleep at this point. :/

HAHA! But seriously, sex really sells. The show is really bimbotic. But I can't stand the judges. Apparently, after completing some tasks, the girls are supposed to stand up to the scrutiny of the male judges, who will then proceed to GRADE the girls with 'No thanks', 'You'll do' and 'Hell ya!'

I'm amazed that all of the girls were so unfazed at being graded like some poultry at a bidding farm.

I'm currently watching this vampire tv series called TRUE BLOOD. It's really nice. Basically, it's about this synthetic aka fake blood that was invented which allowed vampires to coexist with humans. But the show is very graphic, and there's a lot of sex and blood. I'm guessing our beloved Mediacorp won't screen this because there's SOME graphic sex scenes (NOT considered porn by the way, just more like some M18 or R21 movie!)

You can watch this at http://www.watchtrueblood.net/

See, even the poster is damm nice.

I love the red lipstick on the oh-so pale face :)

DISCOVERY!

OH MY GOODNESS! I've made an exciting discovery. Probably the most exciting discovery in my nyp worklife.

Arren told me a website to get past the work filters. Even better than vtunnel!

The only problem now is that I cannot go and download FLASH PLAYER because...well, the administrative staff set some password thing which forbid us to download anything into the computer. :/

No flash player=no youtube=no facebook games=no videos to watch.

Any computer experts out there?!?

Sorry

I'm in a horrible mood these few days. Getting pissed off at the slightest things. It's irritating the hell out of my parents. I got scolded yesterday because I basically made a fuss out of a teeny weeny matter- a storm in a teacup is what many would say. :( I made a big noise when I was asked to eat chicken rice that my maid bought. I blew up saying that they DIDN'T CONSULTED me when they took orders for dinner. Even as I write this, I'm thinking what a spolit selfish brat I am. Kill me please.

Seriously. I don't know why am I so moody these days. I just feel so SICK at everything- from waking up to go to work, to going home, EATING, reading the news, writing some crappy essays. Especially going to work. Basically just life in general. And my crappy attitude definitely shows because I just look so uninterested at everything. :( Seriously, I don't think I have anything to look forward to in life now, except perhaps the KL trip (yeah!!!) and of course, uni orientation camps and all the stuff.

PS1: Sorry ZhiLin if I have been talking to you in an EXTRMELY BORED TONE these days. I don't know what's wrong with my attitude too.

PS2: I've been reading some political blogs on the Internet, and I must say the whole experience is really cool. It's great to finally see some people who are anti-gahmen-policies posting their views on the Net. You heard this many times before- but after ploughing through all the comments on the Net, I realised our media is so REGULATED.

SORRY FOR ALL THE RANTING.

to know thyself

Just an update.

Went to open house last Saturday, and expected, it turned out to be so unfruitful. In the end, it was back to square one of deciding between NTU or NUS accountancy course. I came out of the open houses with a few perspectives though, that engineering is definitely not for me, and I desperately want to live in hall. :) YEAH!

I was lying on the bed yesterday, and one important thought struck my mind.

What does it take to know yourself? Having lived for the past 19 years and still counting, I seriously still have a problem knowing myself. That is why I always hate those applications that always start with "Tell me about yourself". People around me say I'm a perfectionist, that I'm demanding, that I'm super hardworking etc. But I don't think that's really me, because the carol at school is very different from the carol at home. I study hard and question a lot in school because I know that I will slack (and always fall asleep accidentally) at home. I try to be perfect in my work, because I know it's something that I have control over. I'm hardworking because I know I'm not smart. So I think it's quite sad that I still don't know myself.

What is something that I believe in? What is something that I'm passionate about? What do I want in my life? My career goals? Do I even have any goals in my life? How do I even want to achieve my goals? In a way, writing scholarship application essays is a blessing because they have made me pondered about these questions, which I have never really thought through before. All along, my goal is just to get good grades at PSLE, O level, A level, which is very SADDENING. :/

Frankly speaking, I know I will never get a chance to get through even to the first stage of the interview process, because of my unspectacular grades. I went for a tea session sometime ago, and they told us their grade requirements. Being brash, I went up to the person afterwards and told them "My grades don't meet the requirements. Should I still apply?" They hesitated for a long while before replying that they will look on a case by case basis. Guess you know what this means huh. :/ Discriminating!

So back to the question. Why did I still apply even know I only stand a 0.0001% chance. I guess in a way, it is to know more about myself. And to know that I have tried, because I don't want to envy people and go muttering to myself "Why didn't I?" 0.0001% is better than 0%.

Haha ok....sorry for the long ande mundane post.
