Pissed Off

Had a huge fight with my parents today regarding my decision to go for an exchange programme next semester. Initially, they agreed, and even asked me to come up with a budget regarding the accommodation, air ticket and living expenses. However, after I have shown them the rough estimate (approx $13,000 after converting to Singapore dollars), they proclaimed it was TOO EXPENSIVE, and proceeded to chide me for my decision to go abroad for the sake of 'experience'. So, apparently, my dream of going on an exchange programme is gone. I do understand that $13,000 is A LOT OF MONEY, but what I'm pissed off is that they gave me false hope.

If you don't want me to go on exchange in the first place, then don't tell me that I have a chance of going. Waste my time to do all the bloody course matching, budgeting and researching on the Universities. SIGH. I even offered to take up an interest free loan, and to repay it slowly with interest when I start working, but the parents say that I'll die from the interest. I ask them to sponsor me first, and I will pay them back when I start working, but they argue that the purpose of exchange is POINTLESS because I'm just going 'for the sake of going'.

And now, they are outside muttering about how I have changed so much since entering NTU (as if I am deaf and can't hear them bitching about me). I'm so tired of everything.
