happy and sad

Felt so stressed out suddenly. It's a hectic sem for me, much much more than last sem. Let's see:

Marketing: 4 projects, 1 individual report
Stats: 2 case study projects
Accounting: 1 challenging project
OB: 2 individual reports

Sigh, really squeezed out :( The thing is, they don't provide a framework or guidelines on how you're supposed to proceed for your project, esp Marketing and Accounting. It's all do-what-you-like, hit-or-miss. And now I'm chionging my marketing project on Popular Bookstore. :(

Happy things for this week:
1. On a happy note, I went for a focus group discussion for FreshKon Contacts Lens a few days ago. They asked us to try on 7 contact lens (some of their competitor's contact lenses and some of their own lenses which will soon be in the market) and provide feedback. And after 1.5 hours of providing my valuable feedback (!), I went home with $50 transportation fee and 2 months worth of FreshKon contact lenses. Quite worth it I think, and it was my first time experiencing a focus group discussion.

2. I won a dress from Clubcouture! Clubcouture is not your regular blogshop, but it is a sort of more atas online clothes shop based in UK. So I was randomly blog hopping on one of the Clubcouture ambassador's (Holly's) blog, and there was a contest to win a Clubcouture dress worth $30++....feeling very boliao, I just entered the contest. Basically, what I had to do was to select a dress and an accessory which exemplifies Holly's style. Since I did not really know what her style was, I just selected a dress I think it would look nice on her (: And since she's really tanned and has a boomz! figure, I chose a sexy white babydoll dress for her, and some bangles to accompany the outfit (since necklaces are getting rather boring). And yesterday, I went to check her blog, and it said that I WON! HAHAHA! Such simple boliao stuff makes me very happy (:

The outfit I picked!

Hope this is the start of better things to come (:

Start of a new sem

First week of Sem 2 has passed. I need to gear up my engine again. I don't know what is wrong with me, but I simply cannot find the motivation to start in my work. I have tutorials and A LOT of readings to do, but I keep procrastinating, and delaying. When did I become a procrastinator?! Goodness, Facebook and the Internet will seriously be my downfall. Hopefully, things will be much better next week, and I can find my motivation and determination again. Need to buck up in order to improve my GPA from last semester. (:

Actually, I'm in fact rather excited about the modules that I will be taking this sem. Marketing, Organisational Behavior, Statistics and Accounting. (I will TRY HARD to love accounting, after all, it is my rice bowl in the future lol) Once again, it's a project intensive semester, especially with Marketing with 4 projects. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends in my Marketing class, since there's no one there I know except for Angeline!

Next week will be a very hectic week. There's NTU Open House recruitment on Tuesday, and UOC meeting on Thurs. And, I haven't made the necessary changes to the designs 0.o Have a hunch that we will be bombarded and shot at this Thursday during the meeting :) But oh well, at least this sem won't be as boring as last sem? On a side note, my body clock is damn screwed up, I'm typing this at 3am in the morning, and my waking time will be around 10pm in the morning. Guess what, I was late for my Stats lecture last week as I overslept. Panicked like siao when I woke up, and managed to get out of the house within 5 minutes. Impressive yah? One of the disadvantages of not staying in hall. :( But if you ask me, I'm still loving life away from hall...FOR NOW. Somehow, I feel that I sleep better, and when I'm bored, I can always go and kachiao Sandy. I just need to be more motivated and have more focus, and I believe everything will turn out fine.

On a side note, I'm not going for exchange anymore. It's too expensive, and now, I feel guilty for being so childish and immature in my thinking. (Previous post was really a meaningless rant...reading the post now really makes me feel so dumb) Afterall, my parents have 4 kids to raise, and finances are tight now. I realised there's a high chance that my mother is going to be retrenched this year. All the more to save save and save. More opportunities will come my way (:

Pissed Off

Had a huge fight with my parents today regarding my decision to go for an exchange programme next semester. Initially, they agreed, and even asked me to come up with a budget regarding the accommodation, air ticket and living expenses. However, after I have shown them the rough estimate (approx $13,000 after converting to Singapore dollars), they proclaimed it was TOO EXPENSIVE, and proceeded to chide me for my decision to go abroad for the sake of 'experience'. So, apparently, my dream of going on an exchange programme is gone. I do understand that $13,000 is A LOT OF MONEY, but what I'm pissed off is that they gave me false hope.

If you don't want me to go on exchange in the first place, then don't tell me that I have a chance of going. Waste my time to do all the bloody course matching, budgeting and researching on the Universities. SIGH. I even offered to take up an interest free loan, and to repay it slowly with interest when I start working, but the parents say that I'll die from the interest. I ask them to sponsor me first, and I will pay them back when I start working, but they argue that the purpose of exchange is POINTLESS because I'm just going 'for the sake of going'.

And now, they are outside muttering about how I have changed so much since entering NTU (as if I am deaf and can't hear them bitching about me). I'm so tired of everything.

Wednesday

I hope everything goes well on Wednesday. Can't afford to be cui. :)
Website still in a mess, looks quite a childish attempt to me.
Slogan and logos are still a bit weird. :(
T shirt design: no comments. -__-
Oh well, hopefully everything will turn out fine.

AVATAR!

I just saw the most amazing movie ever. Perhaps one of the best movies in my opinion, after Lord of The Rings(: And no, it's not New Moon (New Moon was way way horrible by the way, worse than twilight).

I caught the sneak preview of Avatar in 3D today@ Marina Square, together with M group. And it was... ... WOW WOW WOW! The visual effects are really stunning and electrifying! What's more, since I watched it in 3D (using the ugly old 3D spectacles), it was as if everything is so real and magical to me (: At times, I felt as if I can just reach out and touch the leaves in the trees... ... Some of the best CGI effects are the flying mountains, Jake flying through Pandora on the alien dragons, and of course, the epic battle scenes where everything just burns and explodes in your face. 3 words: I love it! Strong contender in my all time must-see movies of all time! (But then again, perhaps I just love shows with dazzling CGI effects, like LOTR and Star Trek lol) But granted, some scenes were quite dumb and silly that I just sniggered at them, and seriously speaking, I don't really remember any of the lines that the characters spoke. BUT BUT BUT, the brilliant CGI effects wins hands down. (:

OK, I sound like a crazy movie fan gushing about something that might be so meaningless to you...But I just had to blog about this movie before I sleep. And it's bloody 3AM NOW. See how crazy I am about this movie?!

These few days were spent nuaing at home, going out, enjoying the company of friends, shopping, and carolling practices. Not to mention doing some p&p stuff :) Carolling practice on Monday was a blast, with no resemblance to a choir practice AT ALL. There was this song 'Deck the Halls' which had a certain phrase 'Don we now our GAY apparel...falalala, lalalala' Everyone, especially the guys, were damn amused by the word GAY and there were of course jokes on why Christmas songs are promoting homosexuality 0_0!

And M group went for to volunteer for the Standard Chartered race last Sunday! We were all looking so cui at the end of it, and promptly fell asleep LYING on the track while waiting for the bus to drive us back to Padang. There were so many people looking at us that it is a wonder why none of our photos appeared in STOMP. No more 100 Plus for me forever. Anyway, it was quite an inspiring sight to see so many runners chionging together, especially those elderly folks who signed up for the full 42km. I wonder when will I be brave enough to sign up for a full marathon! It really takes lot's of courage to sign up, knowing that you have to run for the next 4 hours or so....UNLESS you have already prepared the taxi fare to cab home when you are dying from the run haha...:) And of course, we became rubbish collecters at the end of the run, picking up all the empty cups on the ground.

This was just 1/1000 of the rubbish we had to pick up. Obviously it must be SJ's karma for not taking part in any canvassing event for the past 4 years. :/ So after the entire thing, the 9 of us earned a measly $180, which goes into the M GROUP FUND. :)

One week of holidays is almost over. And I'm thinking of what productive things to do during the holidays. I don't want to spend my whole hols nuaing around! And first, I shall aim to pack my ever so messy cupboard. :( Disastrous.

EXAMS ARE OVER!

I survived my first sem in ulu NTU! Although it's only short 3.5 months, it seems like eternity to me. Definitely learnt a lot and grew up along the way. And this marks the end of my hall life living with sm goh. :) One thing that I regretted was not taking part in much uni activities, and the lack of a cca. Makes my uni life quite mundane so far. But when the projects are here, I'm glad that I don not have any other ccas to worry about. Talk about being ironic. Don't have much friends here in NTU, and it's quite sad that my tutorial classmates are mostly hi-bye friends :(

Haha, anyway, I saw this article in the newspaper and I was reminded of business law.

Bugis management’s construction work has caused damage to her shop’s apparels.

A lady boss, Peggy Heng called the papers to express her dissatisfaction. During the interview with the lady boss, she said that in her female apparels retail store, there’s only a separator made of metal wiring, between the ceiling. Last Friday, when construction work was being carried out, no protection layer was placed above the separator. Hence, resulting in the cement dust falling from the top, causing the apparels to be covered with thick layers of dusts.

She mentioned, when she came during her opening hours at 1pm and upon opening the shutter, she was startled by the dusts all over the place. She also commented that the apparels were filled with dusts. Even if she were to send them for cleaning, there would be no guarantee on 100% clearance of the dust. She’s also worried that she could be blamed, should the dust causes skin or other irritations to her customers. Therefore, these clothes should no longer be sold and would cause her losses to amount up to $5000+.

She then immediately lodged a complaint to the management. However, the management only sent a cleaner to clear up the dust with a broom; which is impossible to remove the dusts. Hence, she had to clean the entire shop with a vacuum cleaner, all by herself. She was thus, unable to keep her store opened for that day.

“It was a public holiday that day and the crowd was overwhelming. Many of my blog readers also made a trip down to purchase the apparels. However, I had to explain that my shop has to be closed for the day due to my shop’s misfortune; resulting in my loss of opportunity and them making a wasted trip.”

It really got me thinking...can write one whole essay on whether she would be allowed to claim the losses :)

EXAMS ARE OVER!!! Back to life once again.
